Sorority Sisters | Sigma Lambda Gamma

It’s more than just 4 years its a life long commitment. I had a great time this past weekend with my beautiful sorority sisters. While at the Houston Greek Picnic we ran into two other sisters from other chapters. One of them I knew from visiting one of my sisters at Sam Houston and another I met for the first time. I always get so excited when I meet another sister from another school. I can honestly say that joining a sorority was one of the best decisions that I made during undergrad. I could not image my life with out my sisters. I am so happy that I stepped outside my comfort zone and joined a multicultural sorority. I’ve learned so much from this experience. Being a member of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. is one of the best things that has happened to me so far. If you are thinking about joining Greek Life do your research. Make sure that the organization that you are joining is the right one for you.

Being African American I always get asked the question “Why did you join a white girl sorority ?” Well first of all its not a white girl sorority. I am a member of a Multicultural Sorority. Honestly, they just wanted to know why I did not choose to join a NPHC sorority. When I first got  interested in Greek Life I did look into NPHC sororities.  As  I observed and did my research on those organizations I realized that it just wasn’t for me. I felt like I was trying way to hard to be something that I’m not. I felt more comfortable when I started going to the Gammas events. I soon fell in love with the sorority and here I am today. My advice to you is to always be yourself. Don’t pretend to like something because in the end you will hate it.
